Demand control ventilation

Demand controlled ventilation (DCV) is intelligent ventilation systems that adjust the airflow and indoor climate parameters based on the needs of each separate room in the building. With a healthy indoor climate, productivity and well-being increase. It will also reduce the energy used by the system, which results in major cost savings.

Where to use it

DCV is beneficial in buildings where the activity level varies. The rise of hybrid workplaces has turned a traditional office into a place that can be crowded one day and almost empty another day. In schools, classrooms are used part of the day, sometimes with a full class, sometimes with only a few students in the room. Gyms, apartments and restaurants are other examples of where the activity level varies over the day. With DCV, the ventilation system will adjust itself based on how the building is used.

How it works

Traditional ventilation systems have a constant airflow to a room regardless if it is in use or not. More advanced ventilation systems might have a variable airflow based on how the building is normally used. It reduces the airflow during nighttime and increases it again in the morning.

A DCV system instead uses sensors to measure the air quality in the room. It works in the background and directs the airflow to the part of the building that needs it the most.

Up to 70 percent savings

In this case study, the building owner had a clear goal when starting to optimise the ventilation system - to reduce energy consumption. Aside from the fact that a survey showed substantial improvement in indoor climate satisfaction, the annual energy costs of the system resulted in a reduction of 73 percent compared to the old system and a calculated ROI of merely 4,5 years.

DCV One in new buildings

Lindab has DCV offerings for both new buildings and renovation. For new buildings, DCV One is a good choice. DCV One combines several components in one unit. It's an integrated room controller and diffuser at the same time. Add the Pascal System management on top of that and you'll have a centralised access point and full control of your ventilation system.

Ultra BT for renovation

Ultra BT makes the upgrade of the ventilation system easy. It can be installed in one room at a time, with minimal impact on the building. No reconstruction of walls, no shut down of the office. Ultra BT is installed in existing ducts and everything is connected via Bluetooth. No wires required.

Pascal System Management

Demand controlled ventilation in all rooms serves as a strong foundation - put Lindab Pascal System Management on top and you get full control of your indoor climate.

Sustainability certifications

It's not sustainable to ventilate with full airflow around the clock. To achieve building certifications such as BREEAM and LEED, smart and efficient ventilation system is required. Lindab offers a wide range of products that are aligned with the certification requirements.

Airborne systems for indoor climate

Our airborne climate systems use air to ventilate, cool or heat a room and have industry leading properties such as high energy efficiency and air quality as well as very low sound levels. We have everything from diffusers, grilles, VAV systems and displacement units for all applications.
