When the Lindab team in Denmark began dialogue with the client about his roofing requirement, they agreed on the solutions which would be best for the project. This required lots of expertise to solve, especially for flashings, gable and stern solutions, as the house has a unique architectural design with many transitions and different building sections, says Lene Agger, Lindab Development Engineer.
Kim Utzon as an architect
According to Lene Agger, 80 percent of the flashings are custom-made, while the stern and gable solutions are also adapted to the architecture of the house. She points out that the custom solutions help to give a very special appearance– as in the case of Niels Neye's house – but without a lot of additional costs.
In addition to the roof solution, Niels Neye also purchased the gutter solution from Lindab. The choice fell on a painted steel gutter in a silver colour in a quarter-round profile.
On the architectural front, there are also quite prominent forces behind Niels Neye's house. It is Kim Utzon, son of the world-famous Danish architect Jørn Utzon, who was responsible for the architecture behind the new building.
– It has been an exciting process to be a part of. And it has been an eye-opener to see what possibilities the roof solution offered architecturally. It has become a seamless design that has given the house a nice finish and a unique appearance, says Kim Utzon.
